Jay The driving beat behind the Cohort sound is made by Jay Sypen. Jay has been playing drums for 20 years and has been with Cohort for 11 years. His early musical drumming influences are from listening to Neil Peart, John Bonham and Keith Moon. This can be heard in the explosive accents and fills in his playing style. Jay has also played with the Frank Dunnigan Band and Simple Lesson from the Livingston county area.
The first instrument that Jay learned to play was the flute that he played for 6 years, and he also plays some guitar too, both of these he feels gives him a more musical drumming style. Jay works as a Tool and Die maker during the day.

History COHORT HISTORY
Cohort has been entertaining fans in Southeast Michigan since 1991 with their dynamic blend of oldies, classic rock and some country. The high energy of the band keeps fans entertained throughout the evening. The many friendships that have been formed over the years help to make up Cohort’s fan base.
Most of our fans start off their week by visiting our web site www.mrcohort.com on Monday morning, just to see where we played and whose picture got taken. Our web site contains Bio’s on each member of the band. Also there are audio files, song list, photo page, and of course there is Cohort’s mailing list.
After Cohort performs, many fans request them for private parties and weddings. They have also performed at various charitable events including fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, Muscular Dystrophy and many others.
When you see a Cohort show, they entertain you. They make you a part of the show. You will have fun they will make sure of it. Their originality will keep you coming back for more!!!
